Sara Ramirez

Sara Ramirez is a popular Mexican-American singer, actress and songwriter. She was raised by her mother within the USA. Her childhood was filled with racist remarks and made to feel unwanted. When she was in 9th grade she began to feel more confident when she was praised by her teachers for singing at a school's audition. It not only boosted her confidence, but it also changed the direction in which she went on to pursue her professional career. She graduated from New York's Julliard School at the age of 22. She was 23 when she had her first Broadway show with Paul Simon's The Capeman, and her film debut You've Got Mail were both her big break. However her greatest breakthrough came when she starred in the part in the role of The Lady of The Lake in the first Broadway performance of Spamalot winning not just the Tony Award for her performance but also a flurry of praise from critics. The recognition grew even more for her appearance on Grey's Anatomy on ABC as Dr. Callie Torres. The actress is also a renowned performer and has produced an extended show. She's also an activist who works hard to protect LGBT rights.
